At Big Rapids Charter Township we are monitoring the coronavirus very carefully.
We will continue to be open to serve people, but we are taking many precautions to help eliminate the spread of this virus. We will continue to operate our water plant and the sewer collection in the township. The fire department will continue to serve the community. Our building department will be open, and we will continue issuing permits and doing inspections. The cemetery is open, and we are still storing bodies for spring burials. We will start to do burials after the first of April with outdoor graveside services.
We were elected to serve, and our goal is to continue through good times as well as the tough times. Individual hours may be lessened as appropriate, but we will continue to be open to serve you in this time of special need.
We do ask that you e-mail or call if something can be handled in that manner and that you not come in if you are sick or have been exposed to the virus. We will try to keep a 6-foot free zone around you while you are in the office.
We would like to thank all our businesses and non-profits for following the President’s and the Governor’s request to limit exposure.
We will continue to monitor the situation as things are changing daily. If we all work together, we can, at the least, slow up the spreading of the virus in our township.
